Gilbert Bani better known by his stage name A-Q started his music career at the age of 12 when he began listening to other artistes and covering their songs. He was encouraged to start writing his own lyrics by friends while in secondary school after which he began to pursue a professional career in hip-hop music. At 16, he signed his first recording contract with BIGLEAF Entertainment.

A-Q has received wide acknowledgement for his work from some of the most well-known and respected individuals in the Nigerian music industry including Don Jazzy who described A-Q as the sickest rapper alive along with compliments from MI and others. A-Q is the first rapper to appear on Dj Jimmy Jatt’s Jump Off Freestyle segment twice, which further speaks to the quality of his musical talents.

Some of his songs include club bangers such as  “Champagne and Rum”, “Ijo Yoyo” featuring Y-Q ;  feel good music like “Coma” featuring Yemi Alade along with singles, “Machine Gun Flow” ft. Morell & Boogey and  “Distractions ” featuring Vector.


In 2012, AQ dropped an EP titled “Make Your Best Rapper Look Stupid ” The 6 Track EP features AQ’s alter ego Gilbert, Vector, Morell, Boogie, Chocolate City ‘s  First Lady Pryse, Maytronomy, Baseone and in 2014 he dropped a mixtape SON OF JOHN.
