Timi Dakolo is a Nigerian musician with one of the finest sound out of Africa. Timi was born on January 20th 1981. Timi Dakolo was born in Accra in Ghana but he is originally a Niger delta man from Bayelsa state. He is presently one of the greatest soul music exports out of Nigeria. Like most of his colleagues in the music scene, Timi started off from the church. He joined a group called purple love and they had a great time together getting to headline small shows in Port Harcourt at the time. The group disbanded prior to the admission of some of the music acts to University of Port Harcourt.

Timi Dakolo came to our screens in 2007 as a contestant on West African idol. Timi Dakolo won the very competitive music challenge and one can imagine how competitive it was knowing that Nigerian songstress Omawunmi was on the train at the time too. Timi whose genre is soul has a good track record of touching and inspirational songs which have enjoyed massive airplay. Among them are Iyawo mi, yes I do, great nation, love song. In 2010, he was nominated for the revelation of the year category in the headies award.
